I've seen those before.

I wonder if the picture has been 'flopped'?

Seem to remember the 'ramps' should act to increase axial pressure on turning out (R H threads).

There a new product to me un the UK that is being stocked by one of my suppliers. They look worth getting a few 6mm ones ..mild steel, stainless steel to trial.

I use a lot of nuts that are made that way they seem to stay put. You don't use lock or flat washers with them. That washer might be ok but to me the bit could still rattle loose

Seems they are designed for bolts that thread into Not a nut and bolt system. I'd say to a certain degree they will work Based on the nuts I've seen made that way

The nuts I keep talking about are designed for you to hold them and turn the bolt vs holding the bolt then turning the nut. The idea is so the ridges aren't grinding and take in a good bite. I feel the washer wouldn't do quite as well However I've not used one

Thats the use I was thinking of them for...Allen socket screws in particular that are not the sort used on Stihl and some other saws.

I've used a stack of nordlocks on larger stuff - slashers and similar 3-point linkage equipment. They are equal to a nyloc nut in my opinion and more suitable than loctite for many applications.
Haven't used them on anything under 1/2" though.

There are a lot of Industry specific products.

We got wrenches to torque to 18,000........ But SuperNuts are used for very big nuts. And hand tools will get you there.

I use a lot of nordlocks. I've seen the bolt break before it will loosen when you're taking it apart. They're great for some applications but they don't make anything under 1/2 or 3/8'', I just forget

These Heico-Lock ones start at ..6mm -1/4 in hole. They also make a captive nut/washer unit for studs Criss.
