No, lo pro is a version of 3/8 chain. 23RS Pro is a narrower kerf version of .325.

I meant smaller profile not 3/8 lp.

It is whatever came off my square grinder. I don’t remember what angles I have my Simington setup for…it is kinda middle of the road between speed and durability.

I guess my whole argument is that there is no point in suggesting a guy switch his stock ms261 from .325 to 3/8 chain when he already has .325” chains. If he had bigger saws and wanted to consolidate everything to 3/8”, then sure.

I stick to 0.025” when running 3/8” chain on smaller saws.

Okay, that's why I'm getting better cuting times with 3/8 than .325. I run .30 or .40.

I think you should go ahead and provide a video demonstration of this comparison of yours. The way I sharpen my chains, I would need at least a ported 70cc saw to pull them with rakers in the .030-.040" range.

The fuel line in my 026 went to heck when I last ran it. When I get the new fuel line, I will try to get a video posted.

Thanks! The handle is really good. The shafts changes are a lot easier than my Stihl handle.

Honestly, I’m definitely willing to test out another brand saw. My Stihl 261 is awesome, and it ain’t going anywhere, but I will be buying a 2nd saw at some point in time lol. So yeah, maybe a Husqvarna 365 X-Torque lol. Not a huge fan of their newer styled saws. But I do love the classic solid orange Husky 365/372/395 etc. Those looks so 1980’s era. I like it!

Yep, running a 325 chain. I thought about going 3/8, but at this point I have 5 chains all in 325 lol. It’s working good on the 261 though.

I had the same thoughts re-new huskys, so i bought a second hand 562 to lighten the load on 1994 model 61. I’m a husky man at heart, done my time on stihls. ‘read’ lots said 562 weren’t good. Anyway i bought it, climbers saw well used, it cleaned up well, it turns out its the first model they released, put three points on it, full wrap, 24” duralite 3/8 chisel skip, it goes hard, no issues now for over four years, run 32:1. I cart my 61 now as a backup just in case that i read proves true! Dont believe all you read, i love it, just a bit soft in the mounts are these new saws. Do i pick up my 395’s now.. not after buying the 592! Keep an eye out for an orange top 61 damn hard to beat those in that 60cc size. 372great saw, but generally i jump from 60 to 90. Horses for courses, pick em all up, its your choice as to the hands feel.

Okay here we are 1.5 years later! My Stihl 261 (Manual carb) saw has 6.2 hours run-time on the clock. I have been taking great care of it.

I run 32:1 HP2 oil, saw is stored inside my house in the laundry room. Kept it clean! I keep the filter and carb area spotless to avoid any dirt getting in the cylinder/piston area. I also sealed the stock muffler to the cylinder with some orange RTV (Exhaust manifold gasket maker) when I first got the saw, so no exhaust leaks under the muffler anymore. (I think most saws probably have an exhaust leak from the factory)

Wanted to ask a question to everyone. I know they say the default carb setting is usually 1 turn out from closed for high and low speed needles. I finally popped the limiters with a 2mm hex on my 261, and then I tuned my saw last night really well. After I got back inside, I checked and my high speed is 2 full turns out, and my low speed was 1.75 turns out. Does this seem odd? lol. saw runs better than ever. It cuts better for some reason, I think it’s because It changed the RPM in the cut, and feels like it’s cutting easier while revving lower, so it shifted the cutting where it’s more in the peak torque curve while in a cut. Max RPM is still showing 13,800-13,900 easily. Idling smooth at 2,750-2,850 range. Nearly Immediate throttle response.


I’m assuming it’s open so much because I’m using 32:1 mix, and it technically has less gas maybe?

When you rotate the screw driver 180 degrees the bottom of the handle is now the top or 1/2 turn. Doing this twice is 1 turn out but can seem like "2" turns. It is trick of the mind. Your more likely at 1 on the high and 7/8ths on the low. Is this what you mean?

Factory spec says without limiters 1 1/2 H 1 L as the starting point.

If you went this far, you’re ready for a muffler mod. I’m looking for a tree monkey video on tuning, will post a link if I find it.

I started off with a tach but only use sound now, once I hear the 4 stoke I know my H jet is good.

I’m not familiar with tuning that saw by rpm but that sounds too high, too lean to me. Does it 4 stroke?
