My friend was the same way. Always had fast boats, new trucks, guns, Harleys....
Every time he could, he pulled the equity out of his house and bought something.
He's really worried about the future.

I can give dozens of examples just like this. Most of those people almost accuse me of having help from my parents or friends. The only help we had was, the advice we got when we were young. I retired at 55, my wife at 50. Now we do what we want, and help the people we want.

I pulled the plug Mar 17 this last year just as things were getting shut down, figuring St. Patties day would be an excellent way to remember the date. It took several months to decompress enough to start wanting to seek out my to do list of projects. I'm not planning on looking back to the grind like that again. I might pick up short contract items in the future IF needed.

I retired today.
After 44+ years of working in a very dynamic corporate environment, I closed my office door for the final time.
It was hard to walk out and know I wouldn't be going back.

Steve, you will be officially happy now, as I know that I am! You guys always welcome here!

One of my neighbors put in 42 years with Chevron, retiring as a VP in product development a couple years ago. He said he's a completely different person now.
