I've made em "on the fly" outta whatever is around. Wood obviously. I try not to forget them but somtimes I have just a saw no extra gas or anything so if I pinch I'm *f-worded

That's a nice hatchet. Is it old or fairly new the husq varna symbol looks like the old one

By the date on the image ,it is about a year and a half old now ,for the money it is a real good axe

This is perfect timing guys. All my wedges are pretty much shot and I need to order more. Snapped one of the yellow Oregon in two last week,lost one and the couple I have left are cut to hell. Looks like I'll be ordering some of the K&H.

What sizes does everyone use?
What size is most useful? I bought 1 - 5.5" and 2 - 8" wedges. I don't usually cut down trees that big where I would need anything larger than the 8".

Size all depends. To me the main thing is the taper not the length so much It really depends. Once you get a few you'll decide which one is best

8" K&H have a lot more taper than a red head or Madsens house brand. They are good for lifting trees.

K&H on top. Red head on bottom. Red head is made by double taper wedge company.

Is assume that the red top is just dye? Makes it easier to find if it goes flying? But you like them due to the plastic they use (whatever color it is)?

I usually buy 8" wedges. Some of them become 5" wedges over time . . .
