I will be inheriting a SRH Alaskan sunbby .44 from an amazing friend and Brother in my Masonic Lodge when He passes (which will be far too soon and near)... It is a dynamite handgun and is actually more pleasant w/heavy loads than my 4" 629 (which I purchased from the same Man)... I love my Smith and now know why Elmer was so fond of them, BUT, that SRH will have a chest rig for fly fishing in the rockies, camping, etc... I just miss having a nice SA revolver and prefer the Bisley style grip all around, especially in the kicking calibers. The standard and super blackhawk grips (and Vaquero new and old) simply don't fit me due to the size of my mitts...

I will have a suppressed .22 pistol and rifle someday. The .22 cartridge is hard to beat for smiles to the mile and suppressed is even better as I value what hearing I have left...

I've got two .22 cans and wish I had one more. Absolutely the first suppressor you should buy.

Here you can't legally carry or use a pistol outside of IPSC or target.
If I could it would be a CZ SP01 shadow and for plinking a Ruger MK111 Hunter.
I'm going off topic a little, if it's an issue let me know and I will edit.
In NSW non tactical police who all carry, only train 1 week a YEAR on target not even IPSC.

The argument here against a public member carrying is a long drawn out debate, usually by the ones that see firearms as an instigator of street violence and not a deterrent. In a situation, I personally would rather have Joe Blow who's IPSC active waiting for the right moment, than the one in blue. Anyway, I could spill for pages on this. I think you get it.

Practical thinking is going by the wayside fast and if they outlaw guns, it's only the outlaws that will have them....

Yeah, as usual the debate rages on. We hear US stats on guncrime but you never hear positive stats. I might have got this wrong so correct me if I have. Is it true that states in the US that have an open carry law/permit have less crime than others that don't ?

As @Czed said, there are studies that support open carry being a deterrent to crime. The anti gun factions refuse to let the facts cloud the issue and the studies are largely ignored. The cities with the strictest gun laws also have the highest violent crime rates. The solution, according to the anti gun folks, is to completely remove firearms from our society.
Firearm owners got a temporary reprieve in November, when the she Witch, was defeated for president but the pressure will continue.
The question isn't if, but when, guns will be extinct. Whether it be through legislation, taxation, or adoption of UN guidelines, it will eventually happen...................and boy is it going to be ugly.

I've never carried for protection and have been shooting and hunting for about 38 years recently my nieces husband was by himself and attacked while getting his coon hound it ran off while he was hunting around 2:00am at a public lake the dog ran to a group and they started petting him they were drinking not fishing no problem he just walked up to them and they were friendly at first one of them ran up behind him whatever he was hit with shattered his jaw and cheekbones he was able to punch and choke the guy out. thankfully none of the others jumped him he now has plates through his face missed a lot of work and had massive insurance bills.
