On the ranch/farm? - I loved my old Browning Buckmark and my current Ruger MKIII does a fine job.
When hunting things that might hunt me back, it's either my Sig P250 carry (.40S&W or .357 Sig), GenIV G23, 629 4" mountain or my 6" blued Taurus 608 8 shooter in .357... All have their plusses and minuses. I will have another Bisley gripped revolver in .41 mag, .45 Colt, .454 Casull of .480 Ruger, likely a BHB. I will be inheriting a .44 SRH Alaskan subby soon which shoots like a dream so it's a viable contender. I would love to have a FA revolver, but have heard some horror stories about their recoil and safeties. I would like these two guys just because:

AND, the .454 Casull version of this guy:

I like Colt DA revolvers, wish I owned a few more but the prices have gone beyond ridiculous.
Back in the mid-80's I almost bought a colt diamondback 6" 22lr. It had an extremely smooth action but I decided on the long barreled K-22. Wish I'd got the diamondback too.

Yes. The price of quality used firearms has got to the point I quit buying. $800.00+ for a good clean K-22. Nuts.

With the long barrel and sight radius, I bet that's a tack driver.

Hindsight is 20/20. The ones you past on are nearly as bad as the ones you had..........and sold. It still makes me sick to think about some of the guns that have slipped through my fingers.

I found my Colt new frontier 22mag in a pawn shop for $160 back in 1994. It looked new. I added real sambar stag grips for $75 at a local gun show. Good old days.

Colts are even worse.
I have a neighbor who wanted a new stainless Python that I have. Several years ago, he offered me $1,000 for it. When I turned it down, he asked what it would take to buy it. I told him $2,000. He laughed at me.
Earlier this year, he told me he was ready to buy it. I said the price was now $2,500. He's thinking about it.

Dad always wanted a Python growing up. About 7 years ago we found a 98% condition 6" blued version w/original box and I traded a good but disposable 4 and 5/8" .45lc Vaquero towards it. I think He was out of pocket about $200. I'd do that trade again in a heartbeat, just to see the kid in a candy store grin on His face when he took possession of it. It may not be a '70 GTO Judge, but it felt good to be able to help Him for once to get something He wanted... Plus it's a beautiful gun to shoot.

The 6" Python, in Royal blue, is one of the most beautiful handguns ever made.
You did good, helping your dad get his.

Yes, I've shot some really small groups at 50 yds. with that K-22. I can shoot the K-22 best off-hand but it's heavier on the hip than the short barreled (4 3/4") Colt NF 22mag.

Hell, it would be fun for short range prairie dogs, at least until the closer ones wised up... Then an XP100 Remy or a braked .223 out of a Contender would be fun..

Love that m57MG @srb08

For general carry out in the woods, I like my S&W m29-2 with 4" bbl. It's kind of my safe queen, so I don't carry it real often.. But it is my favorite.

My most frequent carry is the runner-up, my S&W m19-3 with a 4" bbl.

There is a pic of both after cleaning detail.ResizedImage_1376516041981.jpg

I've got both .223 & .308 barrels for my Encore handgun. The recoil is very manageable with both. I've got a friend with a custom .338 Win Mag barrel for his Encore handgun. He's afraid to shoot it but likes to show it off.
