Thinking about grabbing a 28” bar for my ms390, it’s got all the mods and some port work.

It’s for no real reason outside of not bending over a bunch. A 28 semi skip would have the same cutter count as my current 20” 72dl

What’s everyone’s favorite semi skip ? Should I go full skip?

If it's only for reach, and you're not planning on burying the whole bar, would you really need skip chain? (I'm sorry, I know that doesn't directly answer your question.)

Ms390 would definitely prefer the full skip. And I'd recommend Dukes brand chain in a cheap 3 pack.
The dealer is a member on this forum and I believe a sponsor. I've used plenty of his chain.
Traverse creek saw shop at the top of this page.
I use his chain exclusively as is, I just wasn’t sure I wanted 3 chains for a 28”

I guess it really depends on the person. I have a MS 261c with a 20" bar that I run 3/8 .050 full skip on just because. From what I understand longer bars benefit from semi to full skip because there is less drag with fewer cutters compared to full comp chewing through the wood.

I also made a 31 driver 3/8lp .043 full skip chain for a 6" Milwaukee bar that mounts to a MS 170....just because 🤣

I read these kind of POSTS JUST BECAUSE I WANT TO. They certainly break the monotony and if I see that some one has done something then I can figger something else to do. :sun_smiley:

Why try half measures?

Go straight for SUPER-Skip .404"

Superior cutter longevity, many fewer cutters to sharpen, much less PH load.

Your MS390 will love it!

I don’t want to sharpen a 92 full house to be honest.

If Dukes had a bar and chain combo in 28 with full house I would probably go that route for the cost

Are you the one they call Mike Gott,

Do you Gott any chains?
I Think I have some full chisel .063" .404 Carlton (Not for sale) I am not sure of the ABC style/category it is.
Does anyone make semi skip besides Oregon? I have .050 and .063 on hand.
