Not insulting your intelligence but sometimes the simple stuff can get overlooked.
Brake band out of specs? To tight?

Looks like it could use a bar spacer since the cutters touch the clutch drum.

It's really loud too.

Epoxy in uppers, lowers, and intake, but that's an early picture before the filler was smoothed and intake filled.

No, I had that problem during the build, but fixed it. You can feel major clutch slippage until the rpm is really high. It's so weird, like there's oil in the clutch. 3rd cut it was moving along at a good pace. Might turn out to be a fast one.

I spun the clutch from another 250 kit on my Dremel and it expands at around 5500rpm. I'm considering filing away at the springs until it expands at the rpm I want.

A lot of filing and cutting on the springs didn't change the expansion rpm much. I'll guess I got it down to 4800rpm.

Seems like a strong runner so far and getting stronger, but it is a 45cc running 16" 3/8lp, so it should feel powerful anyway. Too bad I can't post vidjas.

3 tanks through it, runs strong, but doesn't seem particularly fast. Not sure if it's the LP chain to blame, or the 6t sprocket. It sounds really annoying, probably the loud intake which I made flat and wide. It slices up red & white oak well, but hard maple is a pain. It like it has one snaggle tooth that catches on occasion bringing it to a halt. Seems to be a bit of an oil leak behind the clutch, probably the oil pump.

As cheap as the OEM 250s are around here I'd just buy one of them used and repair it using the clone parts if necessary.

I've put a few more tanks through it for commercial firewood processing, the vibration can be miserable compared to a smooth 5 series Husqy. I let the guys I work with run it while I use my 550xp or nitro boosted FT660 with 18" .325 9t. The boss really likes it, says it cuts very well. He started using it over his 291.

I imagine the 20 pulls it takes just to prime it doesn't help, but in all fairness, it often takes 20 to cold start a M-tronic 201t or an Echo 490.

Hi nutball
Noticed the comment on the 20 pulls on mtronic 201.
Takes me about 15 pulls to get my 441c mtronic started.
Would you consider this normal?
Cheers Chris.

I don't know, I haven't run enough saws of each model to tell. I know many fire in around 4 pulls on full choke without using a primer bulb. I don't know why it takes so many pulls on my ms250 and Echo 490, but M-tronic need to run on full choke, so they likely don't choke enough to prime as fast as other saws. My 550mkII fires in about 3 pulls on full choke, but won't run on full choke, but it also has a primer. I just went and checked my 550, sat 2 days, fired in 6 pulls without using the primer bulb. My 572, which has sat for at least 3 months fired in 8 pulls no primer.
