EPA creating waste

Yesterday I was traveling and I spotted a string trimmer being thrown out. I turned around and picked it up. Today I took it in the shop and played around with it. To run it need a quarter turn out on both the low and high jet. It is just a Craftsman but has a build date of 1/16. Used one summer and thrown out because it would not run as set. What causes more waste, burning a little more gas or a new trimmer every summer? I just do not understand this world.

My buddy's dad threw out his OPE when they needed plugs ???
He just bought new. I said let me know when your Audi Needs plugs I'll take it !!
