Me and ole Nikko go way back needling each other over the years. Sometimes we both go over board in our own ways.

But if we could I would sit and have a cold one with him anytime. More then 1 I hope. :borra2::beer-toast1:

why do you not consider the saws professional? i know of many old saws that were used prfessionally over the years that had spur sprockets like the cs590.the 026 and 036 had plastic handlebars.
I'm sure not just the ope that echo produces.there are plenty of the saws are used professionally without any problems.
i myself do not see any deception.i like others here are far from idiots.
just a few little tweeks on echo saws and they run just like the rest.

That could be - but the fact is that the brand is deceiving people with their very liberal use of the word "professional", at the same time as they don't provide power specs (in North America).

If nobody but me cares, that is of course a problem - as it means that the deception mostly is successful.

I'm not sure if you've spent much time in North America, specifically the US. I've never been to your neck of the woods (I'd love to someday, though), so I don't know how things work over there. My point, though, is that unless there's some regulating body that is tasked with deciding when a manufacturer or producer can put a specific label on a product, you can pretty much say whatever the heck you like about your product.

For example, a walk down the hardware store aisle here will find the word "professional" on a huge amount of products. Soaps, trash bags, faucets, you name it. Saying "professional grade" in the US, usually means that the manufacturer is competing against a lower priced product. Either that, or they themselves make a lower priced product, don't write "professional" on it, and charge more for the often miniscule difference that separates the two items.

Unless there's a specific definition, regulated by a third party, around here, it's just marketing. For the most part, we leave it to the consumer to wade through the hype to find out what's good and what's not.

Your input, that Echos have lower power than their more expensive counterparts, employ older designs, and to your trained, but not personally experienced eye, seem to have cheaper plastic, is good information. That Echo builds a darned fine saw and tons of other great OPE that gets used and abused commercially is also good info. That you can buy a pretty sweet 60cc saw brand new for $400 in the US is awesome. Is it a 562xp? No, but it's husky's job to make the differences clear, not echo's.

Nothing wrong with what your saying. Busting into someone else's build thread to say the same thing you've said a hundred times before is rude though. I know other people have told you that also, but since you've not acknowledged that fact, I'm repeating it. It's worth noting that Jon and Randy get lots of "likes" for their posts explaining this to you, while the number under your posts repeating your position don't get much positive feedback...

Anyways, nothing personal, just trying to be a good community member.

I'll take the bait. Again. And use an argument I have before.
I have run my 600p head to head against a 460 rancher. Identical wood, both wearing 24" full comp. The 600p won hands down. Mine is a fairly early 600, so the same internals as a 590. Why does this matter? 590 has a better price point, better construction, and more power. Is it a true "pro" saw? Arguably. It's definitely better than the typical ranch/farm saws though. Is it a 562xp? In stock form, not a chance. Lot cheaper though.

Here is the link to Echo specs posted earlier in thread
http://www.echotools.com/products/category/

If I took to heart everything said here on the forums about the model saws that I personally own, I would freeze to death come winter time. Every last one of them has been bashed at one time or another. Even the best saws ever made have stones being thrown at it at a record rate from those who don't have one. Feeling a bit passionate about these things is why we're here in the first place. There's lots more threads than this one here to find a place where your passion lies. At some point ya just have to walk away pick up your saw and go out and cut wood, which is what it is all about in the first place. I hope everyone can fit in and function here, as I consider each and every last one of you my friend, even if you don't like my saws. Also I've had way more brothers and sisters here bend over backwards to help me than ones that dogged on my choice of saw. Well, I feel better for ranting on a bit, have a great day yourself.

That almost brought a tear to my eye , I love you too friend !! :beer-toast1:

That is an excellent point. If I were choosing between a Husky 455 or 460 and a Echo 590 it would be 590 all the way. Side by side the Echo is obviously the better value.

Whoa, wait a minute, what happened, I'm offended, now one of my saws is getting digged on, thought this was supposed to be trashing someone else saw. LOL
Seriously though, when you really think about it where is the outrage at PoulanPRO, http://www.poulanpro.com/products/chain-saws/ not one mention of power on any of these saws, and the word PRO is capitalized for emphasis on every saw. Very misleading. Who makes these again? Hmmm. This has all the fixings to be bigger than the grassy knoll.
Maybe we should just re-name this the saw thrash thread, where everybody can P&M about any saw and every saw.
In the mean time, think I'll go out and kick my PoulanPRO right in the nuts for not knowing how powerful it is, maybe if I do it enough the little bugger will tell me. Ha-ha-ha.
If all this sounds absolutely ridiculous, you would be absolutely right.

You beat me to it... Poulan PRO... oh, yeah. Where is the outrage at a $99.00 "pro" disposable saw?

As controversial as many of Sawtroll's claims/rants are in a world of passionate saw enthusiasts...they are near always based on uncomfortable truths.

I think @SawTroll must have used a Dolmar 6100 and seen how much better they where then all others and comparing saws to it well ya they look a little lackluster.
Now those Poulan Pro are awesome I mean that outboard clutch on the Poulan Pro 5020 makes it handle so much better.
I am confused that someone so adamant about information goes so far to defend the 562xp while having problems globally. Many people in other markets have dropped the 562xp for the Echo 620sx and dropped the 550XP for the Echo 501sx. And these people shout it from the rooftops tops. Soo....... maybe that is why you want to discredit Echo in the US sense we don't have all the good modules yet.

I'm not deceived, but I don't care either. I've never owned a Mercedes, but I do try to make everything I own go as fast as one. And the fit and finish is not as good either. Horrible in fact sometimes. But I'm not slapping a Mercedes badge on it and claiming it's as good. It is what it is. To me it's the fun of playing with all this stuff.

I ran a 620pw for the first time this weekend. I've said I wanted one of those things for a while now, and now I REALLY want one of those things!!

Fit and finish isn't quite up to par with the other big two, but wasn't really lacking anything. Wish I'd had weighed em compared to the other 60cc saws we ran....
