The only time oil could lay on top of the crank like that would be at bdc. I’m not entirely certain but I doubt most saws return to exactly bdc every time they’re turned off

I’d imagine so also.I would be willing to bet a saw stops when it hit resistance a larger percentage of the time than any other position so likely somewhere above the exhaust a below TDC. It would be a mildly amusing thing to test.
