I know 39.39 top handle saw, don't know about plastic parts -yes, very similar to echo cs 320 and 350tes- but engine is an Active own production, splitted case versus Echo-style clamshell design

51.51, 56.56, 62.62 models originate from old Opem/Mondial series k or v

Had a customer give this back to us. My dad had sold this unit back in the late 70’s to his neighbor. Great little saw, don’t have the heart to use it though

Just cut some hard old elm with mine. Once you get it tuned right the 500P can really make the chips fly. Only thing I don't like about it is the sprocket rim rattles at idle. Ive checked the parts list and it is assembled correctly, not missing anything.

I am not sure if what you hear is sprocket rim.
500P/490 engines have a very specific clicking-like sound on idle which does not go away even when you remove the clutch :)
I’ve been hunting that sound down 6 years ago until I realized ALL of them (500/490) have it.
Meanwhile caught slight rattling noise made by throttle safety latch.
Obviously the exhaust is too quiet :D

I still havnt tried mine yet. Every time i go out i just cant help but grab the cs520. Its muff modded and timing bumped and it just rips. And sounds bad as$ too lol. Uts rockin a 24 inch bar (not buried). Its easyer on my backnif i can stand up and buck as BBR says.

Different oil pump, cover on the plug wire is different, the bar plates are lower quality too, they say the same crank, I oddly had three of the 501 saws and think there was a nut on the end of the shaft, could be wrong there though, had a few saws in that size.
They also don't have the P after the number like 501P had, echo seem to succumbing to corporate pressure
to produce cheaper saws to boost profits, but the 501 621 and 7310 are still pro grade, lets hope they stay
that way, I would say they are a good saw, but if your going to run it every day I would go for the 501P.
Even in their advertising the small saws like the 352 were described as pro built, don't see this in the newer
model descriptions. But I doubt too that Echo would make a bad saw, that is how you loose customers and profits.
What is interesting to me now that Echo has rebranded the 501p as a 4910 what are they going to do with the 501 ? I don't think they can sell both as is because who would pay $100 more for the same saw ?
Im guessing 501p will be upgraded in some way, maybe spring anti vibe instead of bushing ? Different cylinder, piston, carb ? Echo is selling a 40cc saw that is auto tuned in Europe, I think is EMS (electronic monitoring system). Could be very interesting.

The 4910 appears to be an econo version of the 501P. Looks like it has a plastic front handle and other cost saving bits.

I wonder what's up with the echo website. Their newest products have a different product page format with no link to manuals or parts lists.

Is the 501p spring AV already? I can’t remember but I though it was? My cheap 34cc echo 352 saw is all springs.
