Thanks kind of what I was thinking. My 620 still four strokes good in the 13.5-13.8 range. But I was thinking the limiter must have been near the upper range of these type saws anyway.

That’s nice! Do they put a screen in it? Don’t really worry too much about the sparks because I don’t cut when it’s too dry, but don’t want bugs setting up in there lol.

Here’s a pic of an MG muffler, no screen.

I missed a JD 800 that needed a carb kit probably for $145 last weekend because I was on call. [emoji17]

If I found a big Echo or Dolly at a super awesome price I would be sorely tempted to buy it. Otherwise, my Dolly 5105 will handle anything on my place with ease and the saws I already have don't get enough exercise as it is.

Have to agree with you. I know I have too many saws, especially for me what I call “big” saws. But if they’re ever needed they’re there. Kinda like a carry gun, will a 9mm work? Sure, but I like having a 45 acp instead.

It wouldn't be such a problem except that gas engines just don't do well sitting for months or years at a time. Even with stabilized 100% dino gas problems develop.

I have a bunch of guns I seldom or never shoot. They are clean, oiled, and kept in the safe in my climate controlled house. I know they aren't going to deteriorate any time soon. Even if the wife would let me keep the saws in the house, I would have disassemble them and scrub every bit of old gas out of them to prevent deterioration, not exactly practical. At least, not practical being a dad, working, and having other time consuming hobbies!

And that's why you gotta fire them up and cut some cookies

@dahmer how's that red97 ported 590 run? I tried to get him to do my 490 but he's busy with life and work. He's reall got the Echos figured out.

I have decided that I'm going cut my firewood pieces much shorter, like 4-5" each. The benefits are many. Easier to split, dries faster, can be carried in a bucket, seems to burn hotter. And, gives my saws more exercise.
I think the Fiskars would be upset if I maid it that easy.
