I dont see the taper hurting anything, you can make it flat so its a little easier .......... or you could just true up the piston with a small popup

I cut matching 3 degree tapers in this combo, it was easy with the compound

Very nice,

With this I don't really have the skirt length to make both piston and squish flat. Both have to be tapered.

My 064 free ports a long ways and runs fine. It's not ideal but I haven't seen it hurt a saw yet.

I see, I guess since this seems like a high case compression saw, a lil freeport might not hurt.

But if I can get good compression numbers where I'm at then it won't be needed.

Thank you.

The chamber is fairly small, and tear drop shaped. The plug is pretty much at the point.

Very small band, and tapered to match the one cut in the piston.

Definitely very different than most other 60cc I have seen.
I se a pop up working wonders in that jug.

I stole this little gem of a brand new 490 off Fleabay for 250 to my door.

Saw bone stock and brand new in 12ish inch green wild cherry:

I pulled the tube from under the deflector and cut the front off of the deflector.

Nothing fancy but, I cut some simple gills on the other side of the muffler.

And now it seems much happier.

Good platform for a nice porting.
