cut times for all of the variations are shown in the video
first cuts are the stock MS440 I use as a control subject
then the 036 with 7, 8 and 9 pin on the 3/8" stock Oregon CL square chain
then the 7 and 9 pin PICO sprockets with a Squarefile 60DL 3/8" pico race chain, sparks start flying on the first cut with the 9 pin, the pin style sprocket may have hammered the drive teeth and ruined the chain, I will have to give it a close look, I didn't find any metal in the cant.

I will get some RS3 pico loops to test with further and am waiting on my pico 8 pin rims to arrive, I also need to grab some loops of .325 preferably CL to use in testing those variants.

Lastly I will test the fastest options against each other back to back.

Let me know your thoughts on presenting the info in this way and the saw in general

dave could the 9 tooth on the picco be to big to line the bar like a smaller sprocket but it looks good
I am gonna eyeball the hell out of the chain to see what happened, I modified the bar tail to fit the sprocket and the alignment looked good and ran smoothly by hand before I ever fired it up.
I HOPE something happened to the bar or sprocket. I also got into a pile of knots on the end of the 9 pin pico, it really slowed down.
I think CanadianFarmBoy is working on a nice handfiled .325 to run on this saw so I hope that ends up being a contender.

I kinda got bogged down in the minutae of life and didn't get as many more tests done on Mike's saw as I wanted.
I am pretty sure he went with a spanky .325 hand filed square chain in Michigan and it was a rippin' little combination.
I never figured out what the sparks were caused by and all the components looked fine on close inspection.
It's easy to spend days testing all the various combinations of saw/chain/sprocket/bar/tune to find the really sweet spot.
If only I had unlimited time and energy :)
