I have lost track of what I have regarding parts.



I was looking for 3/8" 7 pin large spline sprockets, found a bunch of other stuff.

Also found 2 7900 brake flags in the same bucket.
No one is dumb enough to buy plastic junk!
Plastic recycle bin it is...

...and AM 47mm piston kit, AM 52mm piston kit, OEM 52mm 7900 P&C kit, OEM 7900 scrench, two boxes full with bagies/pouches containing misc small parts (didn't check) - it's a surprise "parts bucket"!

Next I need to look where my spare 7900 oil pressure lines are, my primary PS-7900 is out of commission due to complete oil loss under her clutch.

All three are all 64xx/73xx/79xx air filter covers, they are interchangeable.
The red ones are PS-6400/7300/7900 covers.

Do they have any inherit problems or issues?

How well do they do pulling 24" with full comp in softwood?

Are parts getting scarce like the other Makita/Dollars?

What's a clean low hour used one worth?

Will my wife be pissed if she finds out I bought yet another saw?

No.

Not really their domain, You stating "softwood" doesn't matter as the chain will take a bigger bite. Also, they feature a k095/small Husky bar mount. They're quite versatile with a 20".

If You fear parts support do not get a Dolmar/Makita chainsaw!

They are worth as much or as little as You are willing to pay. Good deals don't come up too often, so when one does You have to jump on it $$$ in hand.

If You have to ask do not get any more chainsaws!

6100 is an outlier. There are no interchangeable parts with other models, it’s a strato with a reed valve. It has a 35mm stroke. Right now parts are relatively available, but they won’t be forever. They do seem to be very nice saws though.

The 64-79xx platform is more versatile and abundant. Bigger for roughly the same price. That might be a better gateway drug.

Not exactly true: Clutch is shared by at least half a dozen other Dolmar saws and some parts of PS-550 are interchangeable.

133 is an awesome saw. Way ahead of its time built like a tank but a little heavy. Is it a 133 super? They have a better air filter setup

Doesn't appear to be a super. It's a nice lookin saw though.

Never ran it stock. I know it has more power than the 357/359. Not sure on 562. I think the 6421 might have more grunt. It has oversize oil and fuel tanks and so is a little heavy.

6100 stock vs ported:
- stock: wider power curve but lower in cut rpm, more low grunt, good pleasant handling, wouldn't recommend B&C setup over 20"
- ported: high in cut rpm, goes off like a European sports car, volatile yet fun handling, the easy start may not like the compression bump that usually comes with porting on the long run and there is no DeCo valve, I am running 20" though a 24" B&C setup would be in the cards
- either "the bad": the clutch is undersized for the 61cc PH, AV mounts could be stiffer, k095 bar mount somewhat limits bar choices, the easy start makes the saw bulkier than she needs to be, no OEM dual spikes unless the PS-550/EA5600 dual spike mod is made
- either "the good": big fuel tank, good air filter, reliable with no major known issues nor bugs
