I like the 85, but generally try to keep the 45 for Hard Wood. It is not race chain, but it does fairly well.

I don't care about longevity for it. It takes 5 minutes to touch up. If I m cutting 30% faster that's easily made up in big wood or milling since I touch up after every cut if it's over 8 bd ft.

30 percent faster than round, or 30 percent faster than square at 45 degrees? In any case, I do like the square file chain, especially for ripping. Wish I had known about it when I cut the Ash posts & beams for my cabin. Was using narrow kerf rip chain and a 12V sharpener (often).

I did a bunch of incremental testing on some CL and LGX chains. CL was 30-35% and LGX was a little over 40%. Just filing them from factory angles was 20% of it. Cleaning gullets was another 5-10%. Then the gains were tiny on the rest of the work.

Never seen a close up of the head. Interesting thought to do that for them to keep pressure off the ears.

I bet that is cool. You see the twin carb one Adam was building?
We used to use a similar set up 20+ years ago on Briggs and Stratton 5 hp flat head motors for racing karts. Too much compression, we couldn't keep the heads from blowing off. So they made a plate that went over the head with four "links" that went down and attached to the motor mount bolts.

I'm gaining ground, won't be long I'll have you fixed up. Then we can find out how Rediculous shipping is gonna be

I have just ordered a 9 pin 3/8 sprocket and some files for square filing chain.
I have 2 brand new 72 DL loops of Oregon full chisel to start practicing on which will run on my 20" GB Pro Top bar.

What would people recommend as a good bench top setup for holding the chain
