I suppose that a bladesmith could make a knife out of an old, wore out TsuMura, that is if you could ever wear one out. I am on my second going on third year with the one on my 272 and it hasn't started to show any wear yet.

Do what Mike Lee said, I modified my 36" LW Stihl bar for my 2186 and works fine. Wish I would of bought a Total or Sugi, that Stihl bar just don't look right on it.... lol

Stihl mount Sugis have a long slot already, so no grinding is required when used on a Husky with an adapter. Too bad they aren't really light weight like the Stihl light bars.

Hi guys,

I've got a brand new Purdy 36" 3/8 0.63 Tsumura Light and Tough bar sitting on my kitchen table and I'm pretty sure I'm burnt! :( My problem is that it's a Stihl mount and the saw I wanted to put it on is a 390xp.

Now some of you may be wondering..."Hey dummy, why did you buy a Stihl mount for your Husky?" Well there are Zero...36"....Husky mount Light and Toughs anywhere on planet earth that I'm aware of. Matter of fact, I had to buy this one from Canada. (Another galaxy far, far, away)

I was under the impression that I only needed a adapter and I would be good to go....I was wrong! :bash: The adapter fits fine filling out the wider slot of the Stihl mount but the damn slot on the bar isn't long enough to get the chain on!

Now I have a 36" bar, 3 adapters, and 1 spare tip and I'm not sure what I should do...???

Sell? Trade? Or, consider having it machined? What do you guys think?

Thanks,

Pat
Just curious, what adapters do you have?

Has anyone ever ground the slot for a stihl light weight for it to work with the outboard clutch? To slot it the same length as a D009 bar it gets into the reduced weight insert quite a bit didn't know if any structural issues might arise?IMG_4121.JPG

I had the same issue with a 20" light and tough. Bought a Stihl mount and an adapter thinking I could use it on both. Nope, would have needed to add a link for use on the husky which defeated the whole purpose. I never thought about grinding the slot, so it gave me an excuse to buy another light and tough in husky mount. Lol

I'm not sure who made my adapter, I ordered it from Nate with my bar.

I have a tsumura L&T 28" stihl mount, it fit just fine on the 394 with a used 83 dl chain which is a stihl dl. But a new 83 dl that hasn't been stretched a little would not fit. Either grinding the slot or adding a dl will work fine.
