Does this cylinder look like it has transfer on top of it our the plating wore through? Only picture I have trying to see if it is worth trying to get or not

Just clean it up first, there's no way to tell if there is damage under the AL transfer. Giver the finger nail after its clean and you will know. Looks good to me. Unless it broke a ring or ate bearings they usually clean up fine.

It is a cylinder I am thinking about getting for a project so I can't feel it that's why I am nervous

I have never, not successfully removed transfer. They are 99.9 fine, if it didn't break a ring or chew up bearings. That just looks like transfer. I would buy it and roll the dice, but that is what it is.

It should clean up fairly well but you'll likely find light carbon scratches underneath. They really don't affect anything much since they are so light and typically don't extend too far towards the top of the cylinder.

Cost vs New? Will he let you try cleaning it up first? That being said, have cleaned up many that looked worse than that one.

Cost is about 1/3 of new but close to the cost of new aftermarket. He says he doesn't take returns and won't budge on the price any. I am probably just going to wait and get a better one later
