Hey I have this strong running 162 / 630 super closed port cylinder I played with last year before swapping the top end to a 272 cylinder.

I was thinking about building a saw for the 64cc class at 2023 sawfest. Are these dark areas around the intake and exhaust where the plating has worn through? (There is a small chip in the exhaust port that can likely be ground out if I widen the port…I’m talking about the dark areas though for my question)

I don't think so - typically if plating has been worn away, that area will be a lighter color than the plated areas because the aluminum alloy has been exposed.

I'd be more concerned about that rough looking area below the exhaust port - is it smooth when you run your fingernail over it?

And to add onto what JJ said. That exhaust port looks like it might have caught a ring once before. Looks mighty flat and wide. I'd be more concerned about that being a issue.

But meh....... I'd give it a full send for science :afro:

Thank y’all for the input! Full send it is. I inspected what you guys pointed out below the ex port. I see what you mean from the pic, in real life that isn’t even there and is smooth as can be. Weird how photos can do that sometimes.
