CFB's 026 with 044 carb was insanely fast, as was his 036 with carb and 10 pin. I believe he was running narrow kerf chain. Unreal unless you run them yourself to see, feel and hear. Super nice setups.
The @Canadian farm boy 036 was one of my favorites of the day. It's like a friggin' light saber!!

Yup. We need to be a little more scientific with our tests. Same fuel, bar and chain, wood. Stop watch.

Truth is, they are all great. I can't tell you what saw is faster after running them. And sometimes the one I think is faster is slower...
We aren't racing so who cares really. Lots of great saws built differently.
But if we are going to make it into a race, then it needs to be with some parameters, not just pick up a saw and make one cut. That was my beef.
Personally I don't care for an 026/260. But Al changes that. I like his saws just like I liked smittybilt's 026. I love how we can take an anemic saw and make it fun to run.

FWIW

The 026's there were woods, not race ported. They were not "all out" in anyway.

It's about drivability to me. Never said I built the fastest saws. I like them to work in a pinch under various conditions.

A Gutted car with open headers and 4:88 gears will beat my jeep down the dragstrip, but I wouldn't want to take it for groceries.

If you want anything to be a fair comparison, all variables need to be eliminated. The dyno was for that and I recall some of the numbers.

A new chain on all 3 saws in a cant with no knots being run by an independent runner would do that the best.

Cfb 026 or whatever it was was a completely different animal than my saw

Indeed faster. it also has 260 psi comp . ..and was running a different chain...etc etc.

:p
I didn't know we were at a Dick measuring contest Matty.

When I go to those, I generally only pull out enough to win.

Yup. Well stated Dan and Al. After all, these are working saws.
I haven't ran a saw at a GTG that I haven't liked yet.
I have great respect for all the saw builders. They truly do some awesome work. Sh^t, I was happy using my stock 029 for over 20 years. Then all hell broke loose. Lol
Now I am an addict. I am easy to please though.
