Mike you will be 1st to know. Glad you got to run it. Did you see @huskyboy Mason's red lever 044? Mint condition and I think 10mm. I think you did and noticed the slanted cylinder fins... Probably KS with the markings. These are all built originally at factory in Germany I think. The stihl guy who looked up the one I have mentioned Germany origin. I have a new respect for Stihl saws!

I ran that saw too. It was strong!! And pretty much mint. Nicest one I've seen.

@Deets066 your hybrid is an absolute weapon of a saw. It runs awesome. I'm glad I got to pull the trigger and make a few cookies with. Very nice saw my man:thumbsup:
Thanks man, glad you guys enjoyed it as much as I do. Might try and build another to best it. After I get a few others done first.

part 2 ...

lots of saws being run .... 166, unicorn etc... and some comparisons too

Hey Matt -- fantastic video compilation. It's like having GTG documentary to enjoy on television.

I think the 166 Sachs/Dolmar is the one Lee bored out to 135 CC. I like the sound of that saw -- he had it at the mini dyno GTG and it echoed off the forest surrounding my house... great "bark" to the exhaust. Twice now I've spectated that saw running but haven't run it. Next time I gotta run that thing... I did run Lee's 123 CC custom Mac engine on gear drive setup... hands are still vibrating :)

The 044 experiment was one I brought and Mike's is an identical one (red lever, 10mm, German origin, KS slant fin cylinder). Both have Huztl DP muffler and HD-2 filter but Mikes has no base gasket and a timing advance by filing flywheel key a bit. On friday the chain on mine teeth were curled like toe nails would not feed no matter how hard you pushed (owner likes to cut dirt or concrete barriers or something). Filed it and set depth gauges (took a while w/ that rocked chain). Looks like I got about 12 seconds and Mikes around 16 seconds. Mike's has 24 or 28 bar w/ square ground and mine is a 20" w/ round filed. I should have thrown same bar and chain on each... If Mike's chain was touched up they would be neck and neck. All in good fun Mike -- these have made me a Stihl fan and I'll be adding to my herd!

It didn't . ..it didn't have a great chain on it to start with...

My 385xp runs pretty good though.....and my little 350 kicks ass even with a cruddy chain :)

I was surprised that my 262xp is faster than boozer raffle saw ...doc al has that 262 recipe down!

Matty I ran your 262 right? (memory is fading!) Never got a chance to throw my MMWS one in the mix... next time.
I was hoping to run 3 x 262 yours, the Marcello built by Dan, and my MMWS one which Al (and myself) repaired when it got knocked on the head doing real work (w/ no hazard pay!).

I'm really bummed I didn't run your 385 -- that thing sounds like it's dialed in and looks really fast in your compilation vids.

My 262 is faster than Marcellos...but not by much...it's in 2nd vid I think.
My 262 had an older chain....his was brandy new.

Lee...how did you bore out the motor...did you replate? how?

So it's effectively an 084 with longer stroke?

The 385xp is nice...but my faves are my 350 and my 394

Matty, Excellent job on the video compilations.
The 166 is the big bore i built with a 084 piston
going from 56mm bore to 60mm bore. Came out
at 136cc's. The Echo is the big 1201 at 116cc's.
Lee, thanks for letting me try out your saws. Some of them are unreal, to say the least. Of the stock looking saws, that 166 was phenomenal.

I demand a rematch on the 026 vs. 346/350's.

My saw was screaming in the cut. That chain woulda had a hard time getting through a stick of butter.

Next year in a cant with 3 new chains.

(A chainsaw's race losers last resort-blame the chain...)
