I have the Husky felt filters on my 562s. Who cleans theirs how?
The manual states “ use a brush or shake clean. Use detergent and water to clean fully”

I know some people tap on a hard surface. If I’m in the shop, I usually tap it on all sides, then blow it off with compressed air. I have never washed one with soap and water.

My saw runs noticeably better after cleaning the filter with compressed air than it does just shaking or tapping.

Bang it out on the workbench every time the chain comes off.

Clean it in dish soap and water when it gets dirty.

Throw it in the ultrasonic with dish soap and degreaser if it gets oily, or the soap and water isn't getting it.

Compressed air from the inside out. When the compressed air doesn’t do it anymore and there real dirty with fines packed in I spray with brake clean from inside out then hit with compressed air. Dries almost instantly. Soap and water works too. I’m just too lazy to wait for it to dry overnight lol.

Soap and water for me. Always been nervous about blasting holes in the filter using compressed air. Like larger than designed, but maybe not noticeable. That's just me though.
You definitely don’t want to use compressed air on the older style filters with the wire framework with flocking impregnated in it. It will blow it out. I would wash those particular filters as they are fragile. Newer flocked and mesh filters are more durable.

I like to use SuperClean and then thoroughly rinse with warm/hot water. Gets more out than normal soap. I have lots of filters and rotate, so drying is not an issue. Never had a filter have a bad reaction to the SuperClean either. I should try the brake clean one of these days...

The ultrasonic cleaner can turn the water brown even on a clean-looking filter. I don't use it every time because the soapy water works pretty well and is simpler.

Coming from the automotive world I can't help but chuckle how we worry about the air filter after 20 minutes of run time, yet I see cars with filters packed so full of bugs and crap it would feed a family of mice and iguanas for a month, the customer is like, "nah, I don't want a new air filter".

This guy gives zero chits about his air filter, I can guarantee that..
