I like Echo. My first saw was a 2015 cs590. One of these days I'll get my hands on a 620

Time for a update here to this thread. I am putting up a different saw, one that may bring a few more smiles. I've been working with this saw for several months.

Here it is. A husqvarna 357 !!!!IMG_0518.JPGIMG_0521.JPGIMG_0516.JPG

Scored piston on the exhaust side.

Cylinder cleaned, vacuum /pressure checked. All together stock, ready for a test drive!

A few minor details, the top cover buckles are broke and the metal case above flywheel is broken. Nothing that won't keep the saw from functioning.

This saw got a muffler opened up, quick like, it needed to breath!

Nothing fancy, just fitted under the cover and good clearance.

Major difference in running.

As always, I time the saws stock and use as a reference on how the saw performs. IMG_1156.JPG

Nothing fancy, just showing off my bench.

I cut the lip out of the chamber, by my machine it is roughly .020.

I raised the transfers up what I took off the base. I did not use a base gasket as I did not want to cut into the intake nipple and cause any long term sealing effect.

Here is my reasoning, I've yet to tear one of these saws down(359/350/346) that did not have junk built up around the intake. I want the best chance of seal. Others do different and it works, this is just my pea brain thoughts

Dayuum!!!! Would you look at that!!

I ran the saw just as described for a bit.

Nice saw Joey!
Not happy with the 620?

Nothing wrong with the 620, this 357 May be a more accepted saw. I will continue to show progression of the 620.

You might as well admit it, you just can't part with that Echo can ya?!

Ok, my listening ears are on now.......

I really like the Echo! It just needs more time.

Here she is as described, testing it in some maple. No animals were harmed in the making of this video. :D

Typical wood cutting round filed, 18 inch 3/8 chain.

Looks good Joey, why the decision to switch from the echo?

Nothing changed but to a outlet out the front of muffler. Maybe a 3/4 inch hole right out the front.

Sound snappier, but does it cut better? Would I run the saw like this? No!

Again, it was cold, wood is frozen.

Let me back up a bit, I'll tell a funny on my self.

I had the clutch off mounting the degree wheel, putting the saw back together, I generally give the clutch a small blip with the impact. I did it this time by hand.

Fired the saw up, kicked it off fast idle, listened at it for a moment, gave the throttle a few rasps and the clutch flies off!!!! It shoots across the floor, bounces off a tool box 10 feet away, heads straight back at me and tries to climb my leg. I'm squirming but now where to go.

Status update: clutch in pieces and bearing is missing in action.

Results: ordered new Oregon drum kit and clutch. $60 spent in matter of moment.
