Had a go at it lately, the original piston had light scuffing, not scoring. So I took it to the bench grinder (buffing wheel) and proceeded to shoot it across the shop. Lol

Removed casting lines and smoothed it out a bit.

Filled the teardrop in the intake and widened a bit, haven't lowered yet

Widenend ex a little, raised 2 degrees and polished her up

It's back together now with stock chamber, .006 sanded off base and no gasket.

It's all in one piece for now, but that won't last long. It will be back apart for more tweaking

Saw still needs carb work, timing advance, a better air filter, after all if that I'll decide if I want to drop the jug more

I've been trying to figure out the Zama carbs on these saws. Seems the stock Zama c3a leaves a lot on the table as far as performance is concerned.

I've been able to upgrade the carb on most saws I've owned with only a little switching around. But not one of these. I've never tried boring one out. If that whole thing was 2mm bigger she'd run like a raped ape

There is a small casting ridge in this Zama, that will disappear along with half the width of the shafts, screws, and I'll taper the butterfly

I ain't a psp or nuthin, but boiled linseed oil left on wet will shine those covers up in a couple weeks. My 394 looked like holy hell compared to the air filter cover I got from jimmy, but now they actually match. It's so stupid but it works
