When I put a new piston and rings or rings in I always wipe the skirt and rings with a paper towel that's got oil on it.
Just a light coat and whatever compression is right then before it's ever ran is about what it will be, I normally don't see much more than 5lb gain maybe
Rarely do I see more.

Next to my bench at the shop, Oregon
Ive had a few 292's
Great running 6cyl.

I can assure you I didn't direct anything towards you, hell I've only read this page of the thread so if you think I was directing it at you it's merely coincidence.
No prob, just wasn't sure. Wanted to make it clear I'm not Against aftermarket just leery of most is all.

Love my 292's. Though my 305 v6 has really grown on me lately, I'm super excited to get my new 292 running.

Same here J.

After breakin, they run almost exactly where they land with oiled rings.

But even with a good compression tester, static compression comes in all over the place for me.

I won't use the cheapest chinese rings for all of the reasons above. Theyre very, very weak compared to Caber or OEM. Ive busted a few by flexing them and watched a few get busted during install.
Im sure some will work, but the posts about loss of compression after a few tanks turned me off years ago.
