Cooked over wood?
Looks great.

Cooked buried in burning charcoal.
It is jummy, we had one batch for lunch and immediately burried a second batch for dinner.
We were all bursting from eating too much.
Lamb, potatoes, onions, some garlic, carrots & paprika. :babeando:

That looks wonderful
No lamb here.
I will have to try it.
But with deer meat beef pork or chicken i bet it would be delicious.

A meat mix is preferred when doing these, it is just that this time one of the guys donated a whole lamb so that's what got cooked. :)

They are good them cast iron pots with a lid. Known as a 'Dutch oven' ...not the other under blanket dutch oven. Very good as you put hot coals on the lid and bury the pot so there is no direct heat to burn your food, so it acts like an oven. A chicken, potatoes, herbs and carrots/veg goes down good. Then make gravy with juices in bottom of pot.

My mom was a cook for 60+ year's at country restaurants she had a large Dutch oven like this.
I will see if one of my 5 sister's has it.
She was an incredible cook people still talk about her and her cooking.download (23).jpg
