The best deal I ever got on bar oil was about 5 years ago my stihlership had their oil mid priced. I asked if $6 a gallon was right and they looked at me with a oh chit look on their face.

They said that as soon as I leave the counter they are putting the right price on.

After I left in pretty sure they didn't have much oil left to readjust their pricing on:D

Locally for me Dolmar brand seems to be best for the price but I pay $10 a gal. But it is better then the 50 mile trip to Menards.
When ever I go to Menards I will try and remember to pick some up.

About 1993 the Hechinger lumber chain went bankrupt and closed their stores. During the course of the close out sale I visited several times, on one trip I found gallons of Poulan bar oil for $1.00. I loaded a shopping cart with all they had, it probably lasted me for 5 years.

Now I get it at TSC, though I found some at Rural King a couple of months ago for $5. It is just bar oil, don't overthink it or overspend.

That's what I have always used mostly. Never had a problem with it. It gets too thick in the winter though. but I cut mostly in the summer.

I strain old oils. I know. It's bad for stuff and stuff I have good hydraulic oil around that I won't put back in mAchines so I use that have a family of mechanics that I score tranny fluid from When I say used I mean lightly used as in it looks new. I'll continue to do what I do I have used the poulan green jug and I have bought bar oil from a local parts distribution store I cut in the brutal cold weather bar oil gets way to thick to flow for me There is no best in my opinion it just lubes yer chain

in the winter i mix 1 cup of kerosene with a gallon of bar oil it flows better and not thick at all. beats paying extra for winter bar chain oil.
