35 years ago I used to cut some with a guy that worked for AT&T. He used some type of oil that they drained from equipment they had at the microwave tower where he worked, I think it was used for cooling. Thinking about it now, it was probably loaded with PCB's.

in the winter i mix 1 cup of kerosene with a gallon of bar oil it flows better and not thick at all. beats paying extra for winter bar chain oil.
Yeah I use diesel but that's what I've got on hand That is when I buy bar oil which is very rare. 5 a gallon is doable but that stuff was getting expensive Most of it is made from used oils anyhow....

I've been buying either cam2 or ithisca or however it's spelled by the case 4.45 a gallon. It does its job just fine. It's a bit messy for piss revving tho.

TSC for me too. Usually goes on sale for $7 a gallon a couple times a year. I buy a half a dozen and it lasts me a good while.

I use oil from work. We inject it into our drill string to lube the hammer bit. Looks and feels identical to bar oil. Was gonna look up the msds to see what both are made of. It's also environmental friendly. I figure if I can use it while drilling someone's water well, can't be to bad...
