Chainsaw Dyno????

So does anybody have some type of dyno for their saws? I'm interested in somehow/someday grabbing one...if there's one...and seeing how my different muffler setups affect the saw.

I built a saw dyno with Chadihman's info. Very accurate machine to use.

We are using hydraulic pumps as a load unit. Can also hold the saw under load for a period of time as if we are cutting wood.

Ferris: I've run my mastermind 260 and 066 on it. I've dyno'd jonsered 2188, stihl 046, 661, 660's, husky 390.

How much gains you have seen from muffler Mods?

Ferris: On a 660, dual port makes the best gains factory if it came with it, for those with the epa single side exhaust, a large opening does very well for just a little grinding out. I think my 066 is like a 1 inch square hole in size. These are really worth it for these pro saws.

I haven't really played much on muffler mod tests much yet. The dyno is at my buddies farm for better noise control as I live right in a town with neighbours. So I have to drive over to play with it.

Most of the time I've used it to diagnose 661 issues, or a buddy that also has a mastermind 660 that he uses for logging to compare to mine if his has issues.

Thanks sugar , i just looked at a stock 660 and it says 7 HP i see the ported one makes 8 HP , whats an 880 ?

Factory HP of an 880, best I remember reading, is between 8 - 8.5. That's if the reported factory specs are accurate. They definitely weren't accurate for 660's. My buddy's 461 Chad put on his dyno was spot-on factory HP though. I think I still have that chart somewhere.
