screwing around with this belly bar I got...

I was going to test 25" belly bar with 8pin 9pin and 10pin on the Tree Monkey 661. Right now I'm just figuring the correct DL counts. So far it appears

8pin = 89
9pin = 90
10pin = 90

Looks bad azz on the saw! :headbang:

Looks cool. What are their purpose?

I always understood it's purpose to be to reduce the chance of throwing a chain but not because of chain speed due to larger sprockets, but because the bigger sprockets diameters can approach and exceed standard bar width. A sprocket larger than the bar is wide would cause obvious problems

They serve a few purposes. They give you all the range you need to match the tail up to oversized sprockets. A straight bar with the chain loose enough for no resistance sags quite a bit and allows the chain to be thrown...a fat belly allows the same tension with no sag. Then there's the faster cutting due to the curve of the belly giving the teeth a better working angle. I think they're able to tilt more while riding on a flat plain versus a more curved plain keeping the teeth more stable.

So they are solely for race saws and cutting cookies?
Not really for a work saw.

No not exactly. That 25" cannon was intended for the pilsbury crew, but their long bars have belly as well. It helps from throwing chains with the biggin's as well.

I got this bar in 25" 063 fatbelly. They are pretty dang heavy! There is a better more desire able Torrington roller nose on some but not others. The way you tell is by the rivet count on the roller nose. The 4 rivet like mine is the dodgy one 5 rivet is better longer lasting one.IMG_20160716_202652.jpg
