I've been struggling over the last few years to "undo" some of the "do" I did previously regarding this crazy CAD thing.
About a year ago I sold all my Mac and Poulan stuff to a guy in one lot. That was a bunch of saws and parts.
On Saturday, I sold off all my vintage Homelite stuff to a guy that drove from Louisiana to my place in Georgia to pick that up. So that's another 21 saws plus parts, accessories and paperwork that have left the shop.
I'm now down to just Stihls with a few Husqvarnas in the mix. This brings me down to 31 ish saws, half of which are basket cases. So to me that seems reasonable.
The secret in "curing" my disease was to stop buying saws. That was hard but I can actually pick up a for sale saw now and put it back down.
So boys and girls, there's hope out there for the CAD virus.
Next up? Vintage cars, trucks and parts. (I've already begun but more to go)
And then? Guns.

I think you have issues...
I can see being worried about a few extra saws piling up,i have a growing dread that i will have to start selling as well,
I have been selling off my vintage cars and trucks to buy one i don't have to restore or fix, plus moving a few parts(i have over 100 cars and trucks most just junk)
But even living in the great communist wanna be country of Canada i cannot even fathom selling the only bolt action, rim fire, single shot .22 i own.

Not easy to do congrats!

Best and worst thing I ever did was sell off most all my guns. I did it right after the Sandy hook shooting. Things brought crazy money. It paid for my honeymoon refinancing my house and a ton of other stuff.

Looking back I wish I never would have done it. Can't find exactly what I had and many have long been out of production. Or the custom shops that did work are closed up and gone.

Probably the stupidest thing I ever did. It was great seeing the $$$$ come in like crazy. But now I'm kicking myself. Live and learn.

Oh, I'm not selling off all my guns any more than I sold off all my chainsaws. Hope my post didn't allude to that. I'm just going to sell off a few. I'll have plenty of them left. I still hunt but don't shoot much anymore. A box of rifle cartridges lasts me 3 years. Just going to thin the herd a bit. Groundi has a .3o .3o Marlin with a scope and I sometimes use that for pig hunting but the 94 Winchester I never use, the model 8 Remington was purchased on a whim and I have no use for that either. The Savage 99 I bought from a neighbor for a fair market price because they local sporting goods store was about to rip him off on it. I've never used that one either. I usually hunt with bolt action rifles and my two main meat getters are a Remington 700 Classic chambered in .300 Wthby and then my cheapo Mossburg ATR100 chambered in .270 Remington. Both of them are long range shooters.
Regarding cars, I've got to part with a 1963 Falcon 4 door, 1965 Mustang and a 1978 F250 4x4 truck. An older Ford E250 van left 2 weeks ago. I have a 66 Mustang disassembled in the shop and need to get that back together. It's been apart for about 15 years.

What was your most successful method for selling the older saws and part runners?
I was on the Homelite facebook page for a while and just commented on there I had a "pile" of saws. I was only interested in selling ALL of it for one money. Didn't want to sort through them and sell them individually. The buyer was pretty thrilled with his haul. I got $1000 out of the homelite saws, parts and accessories but the poulan/mac stuff I sold really cheap. I think that guy left with everything for a couple hundred or so. (don't remember the amount but it was more getting it gone than getting what it might or might not be worth).
The Husky and Stihl stuff I have I'll build up into working saws and sell those individually. Most of what I have besides my "line up" is 1123 and 1130 series Stihls.

I'm not selling any Stihl saws now but have been wrestling over whether I should sell off my Stihl 070. I acquired a 41" bar that fits it so it will cut bigger wood than anything else I have. I do have a couple of MS660's and am thinking that a 36" bar on one of those should do what I need to do. The Stihl 070 is heavy and I'm getting older (62 this month) and rarely use it. As soon as I sell it though, I'll have a 6' diameter windfall oak I need to cut and then won't have it. So is it 'big tree insurance"? Or is it still residual CAD? lol.

Don't sell all your junk.

In your old age you can have stuff that people want. You can put a high price on an item then dicker about price.
Make them squirm a little just for fun then eventually sell it fairly to them.

You can't stop gettin older but you can still have a little fun messin with the younger people.

I'm not selling all my junk, that would take a decade. I have a three stall garage with an upstairs. It's full. I have a yard barn, it's full. I have a converted chicken coop, it's full, I have 3 portable carports, they're full. I have a 16' cargo trailer, it's full. I have a 40'x60' workshop with two mezzanines. It's so full you can hardly walk around in there. I have 7 trailers in my yard plus a wood chipper.
So what I'm doing is trying to thin things out enough to where I can function better. Plus I completely switched careers a few years ago from aviation to rental properties so I'm using different stuff now.

I was on the CAD for quite sometime, I have sold off some of my multiples of the same models, Need to thin
a bit more. I haven't bought a saw in quite sometime. Seems the ones i want aren't coming up for sale or they
are just extinct. No biggie as i have been focusing on real estate in Maine. Bought 2 houses last year within 6
months and looking at a possible third.
