Ran plenty of saws that were advanced too far for a worksaw. Like nails on a chalkboard to me. Lol

I'll be keeping my ear plugs in and muffs on when I hear that *s-word. Makes me cringe like you even if it is just a tuning video.

There is something else that can cause that popping.

I rarely even take a half of a keyway off normally just a 1/4 plenty enough.

Ok got up Sooper early this morning to see my little woman and mother inlaw off so got the hole house to myself. Lol. Other than the dog.. got the crank and crank half's all together I used OEM Stihl crank seals.

Now I got port timing numbers with and without base gasket plus squish. With .15 base gasket Ex-105 Tr-130 In-81. Squish around .30 I couldn't really get a good measurement on it with base gasket. Now without base gasket Ex-108 Tr-127 In-84 squish is a bit to tight at around .14 I use my degree wheel on the flywheel side and turn it clockwise just in case there's any questions on how I do it.

Good call I did something wrong most likely getting in a big hurry and a lack of sleep. Ok let's try it again now this is with a base gasket that I made out of printer's paper it's around .010 Ex-104 Tr-129 In-82 I rechecked twice so those are what it is. I did take a little off the base but not enough to make much of a difference as for now but squish is sitting right around .020 - .022 squish band isn't that flat.

So what you all think how much grinding on the ports do you think I should do? I'm open to change my way of porting but I'm stubborn like most people.lol.

Did you use the oil pump as a stop to set the PTO side bearing?

Yes I had a old burnt out oil pump I use .

Ok - check to see if the groove for the retaining clip is far enough out beyond the seal for you to slide the clip on.

Did you use a ring and pick to determine port height, or did you go by eye? For the intake port there isn’t much choice besides eyeballing it, but for the other 2 measurements a ring is most accurate.

Haven’t done an 046 or 446 in a while and I don’t have my notes on me, but your intake seems off. This is presuming you’re using an oem jug. I usually have to lower the floor to get to 78, even with a base cut.

For curiosity sake, take a duration measurement of intake opening and report back.

I don’t see the snap ring groove on the crankshaft either, must be an illusion.

Use the pick as a feeler to compare heights of the ring vs the port

I use my timing wheel then eyeball the intake my I know it doesn't seem right to most but it how I do it. The clip groove is there it's just a crappy picture. Lol

Are you guys using a computer or phone? If you are using your phone zoom in on the picture you can see the groove for the snap ring.
