Anyway,Dolmar dealers. Is there an upgrade to the 3410TH bar? I thought I could just bolt on my 3/8" picco Stihl bar and go but no. I'd like to upgrade bars before I get new loops spun.

Be careful!! I try to use both hand as much as possible but sometimes you just can't. Like blocking down, cut with one hand and push with the other or when you gotta lean way out limb walking and you gotta hold your climb line to stay stabilized. Then there is cut and throw baby!!

I've yet to do any real climbing-based removals, but would love to learn. Were my 201 earns it's keep is two-fold: helping to gain initial access against attack Hedge and Locust trees where I have to hack my way in and also when processing firewood at home dealing with the smaller stuff as that saw allows surgical control when doing small cutting.

I'm starting to really dig the Dolmars...
Corey - the 6100 review you did not long ago was awesome, and actually made me embarrassed for my 562s air filtration design
IDK that i'd ever be converted but i'm dying to run a Dolmar.

Cool thread, and cool little saw - thanks CoreyB!!!!
The filter is not a strong point and the 6100 is a very solid saw with good torque. I'll still keep my 562 as I like it better, but the 6100 would be my next choice, followed by an Efco 62 then an 034, 036 or MS360/1,in that order as I just don't like the feel of the 362. An 044 handles about the same and has a lot more power.

Thank you for checking it out.
You are always welcome to drop by and spend a whole day with the 6100. Bring your 562 and we can both converts for a day! And cut tons of oak and hickory!
And Ya the 421 is a neat little saw.

There isn't much offered in the A041 mount. The best i've found for my 421 are the Total 2 laminated bars Nate(fordf150) sells and the GB bar from Left Coast Supplies.

I picked up a couple gb bars from left Coast a few weeks ago. Haven't really used them yet.

its A041 mount so not allot of choices but what you have is probably a "double guard" bar. there are also pro am and pro lite bars available if that is the type of upgrade your looking for. The total 2 bars are cheaper than even the double guard style oregon bar but profiled similar to a pro am bar. Not great quality but have had very good feed back on them especially considering the price

stihl top handle bars are A074 mount

I really like them. I bought a 20" replacement from LC for my 562 as the rails were getting pretty whooped. It's held up really really nicely so far. I've since bought a bunch of 18s in both small and large mounts when the combos were on sale. Can't beat the prices!
I've been really pleased with the bars and with LC

Took a couple minutes just to try out an 18" bar running 91vxl chain on the 421.
The GB bar ended up taking 67 drive links not the advertised 68.
Definitely would not want to use this saw all day on wood this size but it is fun to make it work a bit.

The AO74 Total laminated TH bars are good, a tad better quality than the equivalent Stihl ones IME. The two I have are painted silver with red Total logo. The white GB laminates with black logo from China are about the worst quality I have seen and are really cheap like $10-15 here. The rails spread, the nose sprocket is nasty, similar quality to the little made in Taiwan Carlton bars. Here is a fairly new Total I have stashed as a spare with a GB that blew a sprocket with a well used Stihl at bottom....View attachment 29266
