Your gaining quite a bit of volume ported.
Be interesting to see the difference in a 394 vs a ported 394.
Yes a lot. It was at 140° after machine work. It also has the least timing on them as well.

So I was going to mount the little case protector skid plate that came with my OEM wrap handle kit last night at work (been a slooow week this week).. But it seems that my older ('93) 394 has a slightly different case casting design on the front that might make it risky to mount it. We have a '99 394 at work and I checked the front of that case and not only does it already have the threaded mounting holes, but the case casting has two flats so the protector plate will draw down flush. My older case has neither the holes or the flats for the mounting surface... :(

I'm paying Shaun the balance of what I owe him for the work tomorrow and the cylinder will be on its way back. Have pretty much all of the little bits I needed ordered from my local dealer, those should be in by week's end. Once all that stuff gets here I'll get it together

Installed one on my older case. Check out this service bulletin. I bolted it on the lower mount and used a small self centering drill bit to start the holes. Then finished up withe correct size bit for the hole and tapped. the holes are under the oil tank.

This 395 I just built will probably whip my 394's.

What carbs do you run on your 395s? I have a Tillotson that may be bad and am looking for other options if need be.

Well, the cylinder arrived back home today safe and sound. Shaun's work looks great! I'm still waiting on a call from GKS that my bunch of parts are in that will have this build 98% finished. In the meantime I still need to raise and widen the exhaust and see if I want to do anything with the intake. Got a pretty big snowstorm coming through here starting tonight and lasting through wednesday so I'm going to be putting in some hours at work if the weather forecasters are right... Hoping to be able to finish porting the cylinder this weekend but as of now they are predicting some snow then too.... Fricken March!

That's what I was thinking based on how much you cut the base. That cyl is dropped a fair bit more than a simple BG delete.

Already put your sticker on the filter cover. :)

You lucky dog.... Someday I'd love to have Shaun message my '94. Can't wait for the vids.

Base and chamber were both cut. Not sure how much, so I'll leave that for Shaun to answer

Probably 040-050 from the chamber and .100 from the base.
Exhaust will need raised 10+ degrees and that is a lot of work.

Yeah, I'm expecting it to take a while...But I'm confident it will be worth it. Shaun did the hard part for me and raised the transfers already. :)
