Working on another person's Craftsman. And they needed a new cylinder. No problem. Ordered one. It wasn't tapped out in any hole. Went to the local hardware store. Got all but the muffler one. No idea what it is for thread. The bolt is part number 530 016338. Its been 9 days and Sears and Husqvarna both havnt responded. Sooo....anybody know?15552553256284014178538510997364.jpg 15552553697761144970486541821615.jpg

It slightly bigger the a 6, or more course then a 6 x 1 pitch. And slides into a 7. And all the places around here dont even have a bolt that fits into the original cylinders hole. Were just kind of stumped.

What You are describing (larger and coarser that M6x1.0, but smaller than 7mm in diameter) can only be a 1/4" x 20 UNC or 1/4" x 28 UNF.

Or it is a really bad quality M6x1.0, but I doubt that.

I think I have a 1/4" thread cutter somewhere, if I find it I'll take measurements and pictures compared to metric M6x1.0

I took the liberty of looking them up and they do make M7 bolts although I've never seen one M7 -1 meaning the tap hole would be M6 .Flea bay prices are not outrageous all things considered .I didn't look at McMaster-Carr but no doubt they have them also .

The muffler screw you have is self tapping.

I'm starting to believe it. I had to send the cylinder back. After cleaning off the powdery stuff coating the inside of it. The cylinder walls are pitted all over like a highly freckled person.

Oddly. This is the first cylinder I've had to replace in the nearly 20 years of working on other peoples random stuff. Hence why I didnt know. Thank you.

--except for the fact the OP already said it was larger than M6 .An M5 and a number 10 screw are almost the same
