The "best" saw for the man to play with, is probably something small-medium sized, which he get second hand parts for cheaply, to experiment with. Especially pistons and cylinders. That's one decent criteria in my eyes.

Surely your statement works if just using the first two digits. Well that is the way I see it.. 241 261 341 361 441 461 661. And the the 211 231 251 291 391 well you get my drift. And I think their is a 311?
