Where you're located parts are probably somewhat available. I've bought two complete 2100 Huskys in the last two years and two, more or less complete, basket cases as well. I do have some parts still available.
2100 Homelites are a different matter, parts for them are very scarce.
Yeah there are two for sale in this area right now, tho one guy is asking 1200 for a well used one.

Btw Jay, quite the collection you have! Love the shelves you have to display saws, not to mention the saws themselves! Mac 125 would definitely be a welcome addition to my collection!

I only ask because they do seem relatively popular, but I don’t think I’m ambitious enough to attempt to build one from scratch 😂
Do a search on eBay for Husky 2100 clutch covers, air filters, front handles, fuel tanks and top covers. It will give you an idea what is available and for how much if you needed to rebuild one. Its a project and if you are in a hurry to rebuild and get running it will cost you a bit of money, but with time and patience, you can find deals.

Thank you very much. If you find yourself in need of 2100 parts later on, I might be able to help. Also some 125 parts, although I'm down to mostly the smalls for them.

We will see how I do with this 850 first, haha! I will keep that in mind! Thanks Jay 👍🏻

I think "rare" and "best" don't always go hand in hand when saws are concerned.
I'd say that from what I've seen is that( 2 series husqvarna =aka 272xp ,288xp) , (OH series Stihls=044,064,and 028s) , and (10 series McCulloch =10-10S,Pro700,and super pro81) Pretty much define the 80s and 90s of saw work in my area for professional use . It's evident that the bulk of the sawyers in this area were relying on these models, that is what defines best to me.
Alot of home owners wanting high quality bought CounterVibe Poulans also in my area, they litter the south east. A 3400 will last a home owner decades.

collectors, firewood cutters, loggers and chainsaw racers all really have different reasons for selecting the saws they do

cutters and loggers and farmers/ranchers/homeowner enthusiasts all start "collecting" with what is available, well advertised, easily serviced locally and affordable, mostly modern to their era or nearly so

as a little time passes a decent number of those guys start getting saws that aren't really what they "need" and "use" :)

We tend to want to get pristine or really nice examples of saws we started out on and then sort of spider out from there either towards collecting specific brands or rare saws of any brand

sometimes a guy starts hunting down holy grail saws and meets like minded collectors who fuel the addiction
in many cases a ported saws enters the picture and some guys collect them in all the varieties that stock saw enthusiasts collect
then you have racers who usually start as enthusiasts with ported saws and then eventually graduate to machines that are total inappropriate for any type of work whatsoever

yeah I am/was all those guys at one time or another...long gone are the Solo Twins, last Stihl 088 ever manufactured, mint Jonsered XF, all original Stihl 044C, Echo and John Deere twins, Dolmar KMS4 rotary and hundreds of others, but amongst the full build race saws on the shelves are still some very special saws,
mint in box 044 arctic, all original 066 red eye, new in box 346xp oe, NOS 288xp LITE, custom resto-mod 076 Supers, restored 090 and 090G, original Contra/Lightning worked on for me by Larry at Stihl house of saws, beautiful full restoration 242
I may need to get some help polishing saws for pictures :)

I have not had it that bad yet, I am still happy with free project saws that are missing parts. 🤣

What all saws you have over 20 inch bar ??

Any for sale ??
I have a lot of saws, over 300, and probably 3/4 of them have, or are capable of pulling, more than a 20 inch bar.
All of my saws (except for some of my regular use saws) are vintage, before 1990. I do have a group of saws that I'd be willing to sell, some are runners, some are projects., and several are 100cc or bigger. PM me to give me an idea of what you're looking for, and what you're willing to spend, and I'll send you a list of what I have that might be a match.

I went to college 90 miles south of our farm. The first year and a half I lived in a dorm Monday through Thursday. I worked on saws in my dorm room during the week while others smoked pot. It was a weird mix of odors. When my wife came down to the same college to get her Masters degree we rented a little apartment above an auto parts store. That was a better spot for me to work on stuff. An added bonus is it was a half a mile to the saw shop that sold Stihl, Homelite, and Pioneer. A few years after getting out of college that saw shop closed. They had a 2 day auction and sold tons of good stuff. He had new Stihl saws still in the box. The best was the NOS 090 in the box.

It sold for $500
I did not buy it😠
