I like the 18650 batteries, not too expensive, small enough for the pocket, and still lots of power.

Like saws, and golf, need several to fill each use.

Love the quality of the high end lights, but not going to risk losing an investment if it goes on a trip where getting lost or stolen is likely.

To the OP:

You have to first figure out what batteries you want to use. That will help with your options on lights. For tactical lights, in my opinion, the best options are Elzetta or Malkoff. I have most all lights made by Elzetta. They are awesome. I also have more Malkoff lights than I care to admit. lol
Just matters on your battery choices. I have my Elzettas that can run on CR123A cells or 4.2v Li Ion 18650 ans 16650 rechargeable cells. Gives me options.
For a headlamp, again, the same question, batteries. For an 18650 cell, the Nitecore HC50 has proven very reliable and useful. Many different power outputs providing long run times. Simple user interface. For AA cells, a Spark SD52-NW headlamp has proven extremely reliable. Very nicely engineered. Runs on 2-AA cels. Gotta have options in lights for when the SHTF.
I also have several cheap chinese knockoff flashlights. I use them as a disposable tool if something happens to them. But if my life depends on them, I go with proven reliability and workmanship. Elzetta and Malkoff are both made in the USA. Best in handheld lights with the best customer service there is.

I didn't realize that Elzetas could run with 18650's. I was worried that the voltage would be to high.

You just saved me money, cause the next light I was looking at some Fenix lights that would work with 18650's.

I feel that they are better batteries than CR123

I got a 2 cell Bravo bored to 18mm inside to accept 18650 cells. Unbored, they accept 16650 cells. Each Li Ion cell is only 4.2v's. So if you run 2xCR123A cells your input voltage is 6. In the 3 cell Charlie, I also got it bored to 18mm that allows 2x18500 Li Ion cells. Absolutely perfect. Lol
Still can use 3x CR123A cells as well. And the AVS head automatically figures it out.

That is the same knife i believe ,my Snap-on dealer changed out the blade for me ,the tips last a couple days ,break off when use as a screwdriver and need to be ground back into shape ,i have 2 of them ,keep one in the truck for a backup if i lose or break one ,they are just a tool to me ,and if i can cut a wire harness off with it and save a walk back to my toolbox, the knife cuts it ,use it for a screwdriver a lot also .

Admit it Brian, if the Snap-On truck sold used condoms you'd buy them wouldn't you?

I had to debate last night to throw my favorite Kershaw in the trash:(

We went to a concert and ended up parking about a mile away from the arena. I didn't think anything of it.
The last time I was at this arena was about 5 years ago and there was only bag checks.

Well, since then they put in metal detectors...... We got to security 15 minuets before the show started.

So I ended up running a mile back to the car and ran a mile back to the arena. I got in my seat with about two minuets to spare and I was able to save my trusty knife.
