The last time I checked AS, they had canceled my membership.
No idea why, other than maybe because I wasn't active?

Got some some sort of robot looking email from there recently.
Said something about a new phone app to use with them.
I just deleted it and hit the don't bother me button (once more).
I don't do phone apps anyway. I don't get along with touch screens, far too many input errors.
So I prefer to use a laptop (w/mouse) or desktop computer.

They have been really pushing this new phone app and with the responses in the original thread started by Arbor1 I had expected it to be dropped. Nope. Which makes the whole thing highly suspect, imo.

Anything loaded on a cellphone just seems to be aimed at data mining.
All this week, the local TV station has been pushing harder on a "weather app" that tracks your location rather than your address... What used be considered a privacy issue has become a marketing feature now.

The bots are everywhere also. Every time I give out my cell phone in p.m. on here or FB messenger I get spam phone calls for the next week. The whole AI, bot, WTFever it is can fugg right off

every single time i put mine in on something i get the same calls. so i started putting in the number that comes as part of my comcast we dont have a phone attached to it

Not to be political, but I understand that Musk’s whole point in building Tesla cars is data collection (through cameras and location) to help train the upcoming humanoid robots.

Doing captchas is pretty much us doing free work for helping train them.

Based on what most commonly shows up in the captchas, If you ride a bicycle or are standing in a crosswalk? You might wanna be on the lookout for when the robots decide take over.

When the app idea was first put out as a question as to who would be interested, it was overwhelmingly apparent that nobody wants an app vs. just using a browser.

I recently heard on a podcast that apps are legally protected from any type of add-on software. That means you can’t run add blocker software on them or other interference with data mining. A click-bait nightmare like AS doesn’t want people being able to use add blockers. I hope they wasted a bunch of money building their app. Not sure how they planned to transfer the content that was the bait, but without it the whole thing just becomes a low IQ fishing scam.

Hopefully modern AI search puts AS out of our misery.

I know I am just stupid. But, I find a smart phone useless for internet use. Maybe getting a phone number for a restaurant.
Everything I touch pulls up a popup. It is too small to see. Why would I want a mobile app ?
