300 too fine except for…fine finish grinds, never tested to see if there was value in it.What's the general consensus on who makes the best CBN wheel? What grit is the best all round grit? I've read the whole thread. To me is looks like what ever floats your boat and makes you happy. LOL!
@davidwyby still running the 300 grit? Or was it more of a pain than it was worth?
@huskihl still like the CBN wheel you have?
@Woodpecker still like the ones you have?
Just bought a grinder, so I'm looking at options.

Their std wheel is hybrid/mixed grit and good. I can’t remember the brand but I probably mentioned it. That’s what I would get. *Baltic Abrasives
My coarse cheap wood turner’s wonders is awesome for fixing damage without heat, but maybe a rough edge isn’t durable?

I’m running the UF Sharp 80 grit CBN 3/16” and 1/8” wheels for sharpening, and the Baltic abrasive CBN fine grit (no number given) for rakers on my Super Jolly. Zero complaints and very nice results with any chain brand I have sharpened with them. I used Kevin’s last year at Denny’s and was hooked, especially the no dress CBN part. What's the general consensus on who makes the best CBN wheel? What grit is the best all round grit? I did and I used it today. I sent them a fresh, sharply dressed copy in blue and six months later the new wheel arrived.Someone, in this thread I think, ordered a custom square cbn wheel.
I’ve had it about a year but I don’t sharpen chains that often. I don’t see this wearing out though. Cutters are almost like butter up against the CBN. When I was using stone grinding wheels a lot of my attention was spent protecting the wheel. Now I can just concentrate on the cutter. The wheel feels feels very corse to me, but it leaves a sharp, polished surface. And I don’t have to dress the wheel. I like that.have you had it a while? if so have you had to have it re-done?
I’m having the same results with the course 80 grit CBN round wheels, both leave a surprisingly smooth surface finish. The wheel feels feels very corse to me, but it leaves a sharp, polished surface.
