300g? I can't imagine that on a chain...burn city. I think the Batltics I have are 80 and the Baltic diamond wheel (carbide chains) is 100. I tried the diamond on a chain once...it works but I had to be careful or I blued the cutters.

The Diamond brand that I have is much finer than the Foley. I haven't noticed any problems cutting with the chains sharpened on the Foley even though the finish is clearly not as fine.

Yes if you look at the link he posted it’s supposedly a square wheel for the regular “rounds ground grinders….
Yes if you don’t just take a tiny amount off of will cause problems…

Wow, that's like what is used on hi-end carbide saw blades...300-400g

Well, I contacted Baltic and asked :p
They don't advertise their grit.
The 300g wheel for" Mr. David, which is participating in forum thread as well."
was special order.
Pretty cool they responded like this.

He requested posting this:

E-shop:
Amazon store:
Ebay chainsaw diamond and CBN grinding wheel listings:

I haven't seen anyone mention the UF-Sharp 80 grit wheels sold on Amazon. I bought a 1/8" wheel for grinding .325 chain on my Super Jolly. I really like it and I'm going to buy another in 3/16". It cuts quickly, tooth stays cool, and it's very precise. Prior to this, green Tecomec wheels were my favorite. The CBN wheel cuts about as well, but is cleaner and does not require regular dressing.

The UF-Sharp wheel did not come with a cleaning stick. I might try putting some Slick Stick on the abrasive as recommended by Woodturners Wonders, and I'll probably just clean it with PB Blaster and a brush. I clean my chains in Super Clean before grinding, so hopefully it won't require a lot of maintenance.

The pictured cutter is from a Oregon Speedcut .325 NK Chain; it's small. The grind might look a little rough on the photo, but I'm sure it'll still cut fine. IMG_6491.jpegIMG_6498.jpeg

What's the general consensus on who makes the best CBN wheel? What grit is the best all round grit? I've read the whole thread. To me is looks like what ever floats your boat and makes you happy. LOL!
@davidwyby still running the 300 grit? Or was it more of a pain than it was worth?

@huskihl still like the CBN wheel you have?

@Woodpecker still like the ones you have?

Just bought a grinder, so I'm looking at options.

I have a knockoff of some sort. It said 150 grit. Seems to work fine. Pretty good compromise between surface finish and speed of cut

I saw that, I suppose it's been so long you don't remember what the brand was? It was never stated in this thread.

Thanks for the information.

I got mine at Diamond wheel inc in 1/8” and 3/16”. No idea what grit they are. They just say “super abrasive”. They seem like a high quality wheel and seem to do a great job of sharpening without bluing the cutter and ruining the temper of the cutter. They include a cleaning stick and an info sheet with detailed care and useage instructions. To be honest I haven’t used them a ton as I don’t sharpen a bunch of chains. When I do it’s on the Simington square grinder. I have mostly used the 1/8” wheel to sharpen 1/4 pitch pruning chains. It has just enough clearance to sharpen those tiny cutters. At the rate I use them these will last a lifetime. I would order them again.

It’s like a Chinese cylinder…white box
Gotcha, just a generic one of Amazon or something.

Sounds good. Most places I've found do not advertise grit. But, the off brand cheap ones do. I find that interesting.
