My brother has a '02 3500 du ally with the Duramax/Allison. There is nothing about that truck that I like better than my Dodge. It has nowhere near the power my Cummins has, and has a terrible ride. Not to mention the POS front suspension design. What a joke.

The 2WD Dodge front end is okay, but IMHO nothing beats I Beams.

A local guy has had deletes on his since new. Ran it on the drag strip and all on the 175 tunes and still on the stock stuff at 80k miles. I'll go with a Garmon built one for 500 hp or maybe 650 hp. I put a 750 HP clutch in a 07 5.9 and it lasted about 30k miles.

Why mine is a 2015
You run a hot tune the Allison won't last either. At least the rebuild on them is a little cheaper than mine.

I meant to rebuild/ replace when the time comes. I try to look at long term maintenance costs before I buy something.

Joe
Allison is the only auto Trans bolted to a Mack also

Is that the one Aisin builds or the one that came before it? Sorry I have a hard time keeping up sometimes, I thought the Aisin was bullet proof.

Joe
Two different transmissions.

The Aisin is in the cab and chassis in my year truck. The new ones are a lot stronger than mine. I have the standard output right before the 800 ft lb HO came out. Same transmission so I should be able to run a 50 hp 100 ft lb tune with no issues for a while. The truck will pay off this fall so after that I plan to do a few things to it. Probably a flat bed and Maybe a ranch hand style front bumper. I'm tired of having to drag logs out the back.

G56 won't hold together around 800 HP. The case starts flexing and you break shafts. The 5600 was stronger except the counter shaft. You could break it once and put a sleeve on it. They were holding around 1k HP sled pulling.
