I believe you guys are totally skipping over and ignoring the best chain that can be run on the 260 saws. I've run the super picco quite a bit. I have a cannon 20" and 24" bar with picco tips and ps chain. It's good, but not as good as new version Stihl 1/4" chain. This 1/4" is faster, smoother and stays sharp much much longer. Most of you guys have an aversion to RM(semi chisel) but you're just plain wrong. I will not switch this saw back to picco super. It's simply not as good...in every way....as Stihl RMS special carving chain. This bar is a 16" Cannon Arborist tip

No, there's no such thing as a 1/4" sprocket nose bar for large mount saws. .. A .050 hardnose bar is needed. I'm running a 16" Arborist tip Cannon bar. Cannon hard nose bars are extremely durable...you just have to run the chain with a tiny bit of slack(look at my close-up pic of the 1/4" chain on the bar)

I have an 026, non pro.. Will that take the same 3/8"p sprocket as the 026 pro and 260? I would like to run a picco set up on mine. Not sure if there was a difference with the sprockets on a pro vs. non pro with this set up. I think the part no. is 0000 642 1240.

It is the same.

I don't know about the part #.

I sure like my ms260 non pro fitted up with the 3/8" picco bar. I use oregon 91vxl chain that HL supply had on clearance a while back. Seems to stay sharp just fine but seems to be a little too aggressive in ash and oak. Cuts maple like butter.

have you noticed any difference in the chip clearance of 3/8p and 1/4? What about oiling? What's the longest bar you have the 1/4 on please? I'm wondering if my mmws 260 could wear a 20" 1/4 bar and if that would be better than a 20" picco.
