Yes we have plenty of those worthless things. I cut a big one a couple weeks ago at work. Been cutting some nice straight 20-24” ones lately, too bad they aren’t worth anything
They make excellent interior lumber. And pay about .30/bdft. And the bdft add up quickly with Cottonwood! I like cutting them from time to time.

The Lucas Mill has my interest, but I don’t have the loose change for one of those right now. Simply dreaming at this point.
Check out the website of one of my customers. I sharpen and provide the hyper skip 27RX for the Lucas mill, which is not pictured but probably cut the largest slabs. https://heartlandlumber.com/gallery/

An ad popped up in my Facebook feed the other day; caught my eye, but not enough to save (enough hobbies right now).

But it appeared to be quite a ‘hybrid’: circular saw blade, powered by a chain saw type motor, running on some type of track / guides.

Obviously, would not work to mill large diameter logs, but . . .

Anyone seen one of these?

OK - ad popped up again!

I lnow nothing about it, or the company, just looked like a different approach.

Yep - that’s the one that caught my eye. Cut from both directions and save time. Also, the ability to cut a log where it lays is a big feature as well. And the 2 post, monorail setup looks simple and highly adjustable.
