It’s a dream of mine to either buy, or build, a mill for the days when I can’t be in the woods logging. For some side income and also some fun.

Circle saw mills have peaked my interest because of the time saving aspect of them. I’m not completely ruling out a band mill yet, however.

Anyone using a circle swing blade, or fixed mill?

I used to have a circle mill.i loved it, sold it and bought a band Mill.worst decision I ever made☹️ I decided I wanted another one,me and the woman agreed on a price but I got hurt 2 weeks later and haven't had the money to buy one since.
Was it fixed, or swing blade?

I used to work at a BIG circle mill. Learned a lot about processing, edging, and opening up a log (Sawyer).

No help on little ones/swingers.

The old Foley-Belsaw M-14 was a popular mill for decades. If you can find one that has not been scrapped you should be able to get it reasonably. I bid on one at an auction around 20 years ago. It was in a shed and PTO powered from a AC-WD. I stopped at $450 and it sold for $500. The buyer was the person who had bought the farm so it was obvious they wanted to leave it intact. There was no point in running up the price on them.

The Lucas Mill has my interest, but I don’t have the loose change for one of those right now. Simply dreaming at this point.
I know zero about those.

This has my interest, and the price isn’t terrible either. Plus you get to choose your powerhead.

An ad popped up in my Facebook feed the other day; caught my eye, but not enough to save (enough hobbies right now).

But it appeared to be quite a ‘hybrid’: circular saw blade, powered by a chain saw type motor, running on some type of track / guides.

Obviously, would not work to mill large diameter logs, but . . .

Anyone seen one of these?

I know of a stationary mill powered by a D-8 Cat that can bought pretty cheap. Hasn’t been used for 15 years though. The blade is about 8’
