Dang.....can’t like this one.
I finally got around to lifting the top off my 288. I’m really hoping it’s a piece of metal that fell in from the muffler but I thinking I’ll have to check out the bearings.
Unfortunately it looks like a full rebuild is in order for that saw.Not yet. Every seemed tight and had no play, but im worried it could be a piece of bearing cage that fell off.

How does the squish band look? I have been lucky sonetimes to be able to sand the band with a old piston knocking down the high spots opens up the clearance some but not enough to worry about. Mine went from .020 to .030 still blew almost 200 where before it was 210. Not bad for a salvaged jug i think
