Here are some pictures on how this setup works.

This brackets just sits in the slots on the horn.


This black cage is normally attached to the filter but I pulled it out for a visual.


It just looks like a mini dirtbike filter. The inside of the filter is in good shape but the outside is just turning into sand.

Now I know that those cut outs and the large flange base are for on the HD filter adapter!

But I've never had a problem with the standard HD flocked filter, it's way better than the low top one.

Ive never seen that setup on a 288...very cool!

That saw is deffinately a 1990, that filter setup was only used for a few yes on the earliest 288s, they started production in 1988

You’re absolutely right Dustin. I forgot by 2000 they had changed to the current serial number format...doh!!!!! Woopth

Dang. You’re the one who got that. Lol. It didn’t last long on Craigslist. I messaged the guy, and he replied that it may already be sold. Nice pick up!!

I was asking if he was willing to ship. But yes, I am in coos bay. Don’t really “need” another 288 though. I think I have 8 now. Lol

If any y’all follow the bench thread you’ll notice the one in the middle I got a couple weeks ago, but I got the other two 288’s and the 385 yesterday. One of the 288’s and the 385 are locked up and the other 288 will run, but is scored. Really odd to get a chance at these caliber of saws around here local.
