I can only speak for my experiences with parts.......but these AM drives just don't seem too good, they strip, melt, etc...

So, what good are they? Well, the drive arm seems to be fine, so I use just the drive arm, and swap it onto an OEM gear.

Any idea if they were farmertec manufacture/distribution?
I use them pretty much exclusively for the AM worms, but have two other options.
No direct complaints that I recall but....

Have bought several for different saws. Only 2 out of the lot were any good. Just had one I received from an Ebay vendor that would not work. It chewed it up in a few minutes.
My experience has been to steer away from the "worm gears". The pumps have been relatively good.

@Mastermind I can't help but feel the solution to our AM parts problem somehow is quite literally staring us right in the face. I'm talking of the power of this OPE forum. I'm not sure however just quite how this should happen. Here's what I'm thinking though; Individually if you or I contact a vendor about a problem with a part, vendor either offers another part or maybe a refund - no change for the better has happened. Collectively with X amount of members speaking to vendor saying hey, WE have a problem, might get a bigger ball rolling in the right direction and hopefully get to where it could affect some real change at the manufacturing level for example. Again, not sure what the proper way to go about this is, but I do think it would worth a bit of discussion to see if has any possibility to it. As on the other hand if it were just used as a place to bash on parts people, all it would be is a food fight in the lunchroom that is the internet so to speak. I do feel that this is a major flaw in this industry across the board, and if it is to succeed, need be addressed. Anyways, this was just on my mind and wanted to get it out there, if you think there is something that can be done to affect positive change, I for one would be more than willing to help in any capacity that I am able.

Very good post sir. We have had some great success in getting the AM parts suppliers to do a better job of quality over these last few years. For the most part, we see pretty good stuff. @Gentleman is the guy that can help more than anyone. He deals with these folks on a daily basis. Personally, I use a lot of AM seals, and sometimes fuel and impulse lines. Also, clutch covers, handlebars, and the like seem to be pretty good too.

We are getting there, and this site is owned by one of the largest providers of AM parts, so we are being heard......

Yes, it's getting better I do agree, seems like a whack-a-mole though, and if it required a 8oz ball peen I would rather use a 12lb sledge to the problem. I do report directly to vendors of problems with parts, even if I corrected them myself and no action is required of them, so they at least know what is happening. I also feel the smaller(monetarily) the part, the less chance of it being reported, it's just not worth the hassle. Maybe just posting issues here would have a positive effect, maybe not, if turned into a bash fest. I still feel this site has more potential to it somehow, and it's up to us to find it, wish I could put my finger on it, but I do think it's there. Oh well, this was on my mind is all. When it comes down to it, most AM stuff is pretty darn good, and does allow us to fix up machines that would otherwise be useless without AM parts.
