Well, I put a few miles on it today, about two gallons of fuel and several sharpenings. The bog returns at odd times, so I'm not real sure what to think of that. It may still be the carb.
Here is pic of the spark plug after today's exercise, on 32-1 mix. Much lighter colored than it was before the port work.

I got about a 25-30% gain in 8x8 pine on BPS one I ported. I did raise the exhaust and transfers a little.

No, this is only my personal saw, so I'll just deal with it.

Did you raise them past stock numbers, or only raise them after dropping the jug?

I went back to 101 on exhaust. I dropped it around .040" I believe.

I may go back in and raise these up a bit too. Right now the ex is 104, tr 117, in 77.

That one is a 70 diesel, but it takes turns with a 720!

They run pretty good, now if I can just figure out how to get the stump pulling low end torque out of it like my Echos and 372xts have. I use mine mainly for limbing, so that quick blast of power is all it really needs, but I think they would catch on as a felling saw, with a litttle more longbar ability.

I tried this one with the 30" Sugi full comp semi chisel, and it don't like it one bit. Its a little stingy on oil also. The Echos pull it fine, and oil plenty.

Normally this saw would empty the fuel tank before the oil, but yesterday while limbing the oil tank goes dry first. Maybe I gave the stratos a bit to much time?

I've used mine a few times with a 28" and it goes alright - terry ported it. I only have a standard tsumura at the moment and the balance is awful, and it's too much for the AV.
It's good enough for use in a tree where I really appreciate how much lighter it is than my 385, but if I wanted to do it regularly I'd get a stihl lightweight and use adapters and I'd use 063 chain to help it oil.
Mostly I just run a 20" sugi light and that's a perfect combo.

I've had a couple of 562's and my favorite now is a 555 with 562 transfer covers, I like the torque better. I wonder if the setup for longer bars on the 562 is to pull the stuffers. I'm willing to sacrifice a little top end power for a little more torque. Any thoughts or am I looking at it wrong? I'd be nice to leave the big saw in the shop and not have to bring it out for that one tree.

Did the transfer cover swap make much difference? l like my stock 555, small bar mount. You end up with a capable but very well balanced saw. No xp badge don't bother me with this saw.

Yes, it made more of a difference than the muff mod but I have no way to quantify it. Both my 562 & 555 could be buried in hardwood with a 3/8th 20" bar. I couldn't tell the difference so I sold the 562 and kept the lighter smaller 555.
